Weekly Blog Special Update: August 1st

Hello Internet!

Well July is now gone and we’re nearing the end of 2017. But don’t be upset. We still have all of August followed by Halloween in October, Thanksgiving in November, and Christmas in December. Huge things are on the horizon so don’t think we can just coast through the rest of the year. I’m sure it is hot and humid out there like it is where I live, so lay around in the Air Conditioning, and spend some time reading my August 1st update on my New Year’s Resolutions. Well, before I jump to that I do have some small housekeeping things I need to talk about first. First of all if you are new to the page and don’t know what I’m talking about, there are a list of previous updates that explain my New Year’s Resolutions and how well I’ve been doing on them throughout the year. I would start with January 8th’s Weekly Blog which layouts my resolutions for you and I explain why I’m picking those resolutions to work on. Then I have updates for February 1st, March 1st, April 1st, May 1st, June 1st, and finally July 1st that you can check out if you want to. No pressure of anything but the more views I get from you guys, the happier I become!

Also I want to update you on the computer situation. Right now my laptop is out of commission, but it currently being worked on. I’m hoping that it will be done with week and we can get back to the regular writing schedule, but there is no guarantee. I’m planning on continuing doing a Weekly Blog each Sunday and I might be able to publish some small pieces under the “Creative Writing” tab, but I cannot promise anymore than that. I will continue to update you on the website as well as on the Facebook Page and Twitter Page so feel free to follow the website there as well so you can be updated. Ok let’s move on to the main event! Let’s talk about my New Year’s Resolutions and how well I did in the month of July.

My first resolution was that I wanted to write more in 2017. I have wanted to be a writer since I graduated High School (and a little before that), but I had always been someone with lots of ideas in my head that I never wrote down. I decided in 2017 I was going to put pen to paper (or use a computer) and write down my ideas. Since January, I have been writing pieces and publishing them on this website here. Including this blog, there have been a total of 103 posts published on the website. In July we celebrated the 100th piece being uploaded to the website as well as the 6th month anniversary of this website being public for all of you to see. Those are some really awesome milestones and I hope to continue uploading pieces to the website. I’m seeing some really awesome growth on the website which reached new peaks during the weeks leading up to the 100th piece being published. Thank you so much for your continuing support and the community we’re beginning to grow all over the world. I am blown away by all the views, likes, comments, and shares that you guys provide me and I want to continue to give back by uploading better and better pieces to the website. Going forward there is going to be a dip in the amount of pieces being published because of my laptop is out of commission, but I know I will bounce back in late August. Thank you for being patient with me as we get that fixed and get back to our normal schedule.

My second 2017 resolution was that I wanted to be more positive as well as being a more positive force in the world. I want to focus on the positivity in the world instead of the negativity. This world and the public spaces on the internet can be so harsh and mean and negative, so I decided I wanted to add something positive to the internet. I also wanted to spread positivity in my real life and try to affect the people around me in a positive fashion. Of course there are limits to this and I’m not pledging to be happy 24/7. That would be an unrealistic goal and I could never complete it, but even when I am feeling sad, lonely, or angry, I try to focus on the silver lining and the good things in my life. I hope that everyone out there tries to complete this resolution out there with me. There is so much negativity out there that a little bit of positivity can go a long way. You never know when you can make someone’s day just by being nice to them or by spreading a positive message to the people around me. Spend a little time picking people up and supporting them instead of tearing them down and you’ll never know what you can accomplish. In regards to my efforts on this resolution, its a mix of successes and failures. I try to stay positive and help others as much as possible, but some days it becomes hard and I fail. I truly believe it is ok to fail as long as you pick yourself up and try again.

My third resolution for the new year is that I wanted to be more adventurous. This resolution has two parts to it. The first was that I wanted to embrace opportunities and be open minded when it comes to possibilities for my future. The other part was that I wanted to go on more adventures. I want to go out and explore the world more and enjoy the outside as well as my local community. In general I believe that I have been doing pretty good with this one. I have applied for a few new jobs, but I have not found anything new yet. I have also had some fun exploring out in nature as well as walking around town playing Pokemon Go. Since its popularity has increased over the summer, I’ve become a more active Pokemon Go player. Now I spend a lot of my time inside working, writing, watching YouTube, or whatever, but I’ve tried to spend more time outside in the month of July.

My fourth and final resolution was that I wanted to be healthier. I wanted to take 2017 and make it a year where I focused on my physical and mental health. This resolution had a big focus on my diet and getting more exercise as well as relieving stress and anxiety. I am continuing to drink lots of water and I have removed pop from my diet. Whenever I am work I drink water all day and I’ve been eating more salads, leafy greens, and vegetables. I actually went to the gym for the first time in over a year and got my sweat on. I am definitely out of shape, but running on a treadmill actually felt amazing to me. I really need to put some money behind this goal so that I’m motivated to continue exercising. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I need to fit some exercising into my schedule.

So that’s all four of my New Year’s Resolutions that I am focusing on in 2017. Between July 1st and August 1st, I think I did a pretty good job. There are still some areas that I need to step up and do better at, but altogether I feel like I’m improving from month to month. I’m not perfect and I have my shortfalls, but sometimes you just have to try your hardest and be the best that you can be. Don’t compare yourself to others and where they are in their life. Just look back at your life and try to improve yourself going forward. Also remember that you can’t have a more perfect past. That happened and now its over. You don’t need to spend all your time focusing on your past and things you can’t change, but you can use those experiences to improve your future as you go forward. Also you shouldn’t wait until January 1st, 2018 to start improving your life. Start today and work on small goals to improve your life. You can choose to start August 2nd as the day that you turn your life around and I will be here to support you. Just set realistic goals for yourself and focus on accomplishing those before you move on to bigger and bigger changes.

I just want to remind you that we will not be going back to our normal schedule yet, because my laptop is still broken. I’m planning on uploading Weekly Blogs and I might be able to publish small creative writing pieces, but no promises there. I will continue to update everyone on when it is fixed. Please be patient with me as I try to get it fixed. I really appreciate all the support I’ve been receiving and I hope you continue to support me and my pieces on the website.

I hope you have a wonderful week!
