Weekly Blog July 30th, 2017: Cinemagraphs

Hello Internet!

Welcome back from a rather plain week. If you are confused why it seems like I dropped off the face of the planet this week, please check out last week’s Weekly Blog and it should explain everything. Long story short, my computer is a little wonky right now so I don’t have my laptop for writing. It sucks, but right now I can’t really do anything about it. I’m hoping that it can be fixed and that I’ll have it back sometime this week, but as of right now it doesn’t look like we will be returning to our normal schedule this week. Obviously this Weekly Blog is coming out today and I’m planning on publishing my monthly update on August 1st, but it doesn’t look like anything else will be published this week. So any new Pokemon chapter or new Writing Prompt piece is going to be pushed back another week. Be patient and know that it bothers me as much or even more than it bothers you. I like having a normal writing schedule and these empty days with no views hurt my soul a little bit. Knowing you guys will continue to view my Weekly Blogs makes me feel a little bit better, so that’s keeping me going. I do want to say that all the views, likes, comments, and shares mean the world to me, so if you like something, give it a like. If you really like it, give it a share or leave a comment, and if you don’t like it, leave a constructive criticism or send me an email at allen.the.writer@gmail.com.

Ok now that all that housekeeping stuff is out of the way, it is time for the main event. Now sometimes I use the format of the Weekly Blog to talk about what happened to me during the week and give you a little insight into my week, while other times I just like to give a little insight into my likes, dislikes, or just interests of mine; these usually don’t have deep connections to the “weekly” part of the blog. This post is going to be one of the second type of my Weekly Blog posts. However I wanted to share with you this awesome thing that I’ve been fascinated with for a while: Cinemagraphs. So what are Cinemagraphs? Well besides being a fun word to say, they are a type of moving picture similar to a Gif except most of it is a still image and some part of it moves subtly. Wikipedia defines a Cinemagraph as “still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs, forming a video clip. They are published as an animated GIF or in other video formats, and can give the illusion that the viewer is watching an animation.” An example of this is posted up above which I found on the subreddit dedicated to this art form; r/Cinemagraphs. (Reddit is where I find a lot of cool things.)

I find this type of art to be really cool and fascinating. It’s like this perfect mix between a still picture and a video. Cinemagraphs are very artsy Gifs in a way and they just enthrall me. I can just spend minutes on minutes looking at these moving images. And there are so many out there making these Cinemagraphs and it just makes me so happy. Seeing people take this art form and create something awesome just fills me with so much joy. Plus it’s such an unique art form which I can’t get enough of. Cinemagraphs are something I just kind of stumbled upon and now I just love strolling through the subreddit looking at all the Cinemagraphs people post. People take scenes from movies or nature scenes of the forest or ocean and they create this unique art which I readily consume. Generally I’m just delighted by how artistic people can be and the stuff they take time to create just blows me away. People can be crazy artistic.

Well I guess that’s all I wanted to say about Cinemagraphs. Plus I get to use this Weekly Blog post to spend hours looking at more Cinemagraphs! Seriously, if you love this stuff, check out the subreddit or just Google it, because there are a ton of them out there. Also if you are an artist or writer or a creative person, feel free to shoot me an email telling me how to get to your website so I can view your art. I love seeing people’s art and see how creative people can be. If you like this post or my other posts, feel free to leave some love for me because I appreciate getting people’s feedback about the pieces I write or the website in general. Just a couple of creative people sharing the stuff we work hard on. That’s what it is really all about.

Ok I think that is all for this week. I will continue to update everyone on the condition of my laptop and hopefully we can return to the normal writing schedule soon. I’m hoping that things will return to normal starting the second week of August, but maybe it will be sooner. Right now I just don’t know. Feel free to check out my Facebook and Twitter pages to stay up to date on all things related to the website and my pieces.

Thank you all for your continuing support and I hope you have a wonderful week!
