Weekly Blog September 2nd, 2018: Celebrating Growth

Hello Internet!

We made it to September! Can you believe it? It seems like months are flying by. Soon Fall will be here. Then Halloween, Thanksgiving, Snow, and Christmas. All that fast with nothing in between. You might as well get out your party hats and champagne because it’s practically 2019. But maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. It is close to Fall but it’s still Summer weather out there. I like Summer, but I LOVE Autumn, so let’s just go ahead and get there already. Anyway, here on the website we had another great week and a great end to August. I’ll talk a little bit more about that in a second, but I just want to say Thank You to all the readers new and old which continue to blow my mind. August was my best month so far in terms of views and likes and it’s all thanks to you wonderful people! So thank you, thank you, thank you! It seriously makes my day and fills me with so much joy to see people around the globe read and like my stuff. It’s wild. So like I said, we had a great week here. Last Sunday I published a Weekly Blog titled Allen’s Guide to College Part 2 where I gave some advice to all the college students going back to school. If you’re a college Freshman, I highly recommend reading it, but anyone can read it and learn some stuff. Then on Wednesday I published a Poem titled Restless Night which speaks of the real conditions in my very hot room and my struggle to fall asleep, drenched in sweat. On Friday I published an Image Prompt based on a fantastic image. The piece is titled Lion’s Gate and it’s great. So give it a read. Then finally on Saturday, I published the first of a new series based on Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver titled HGSS#1.  It’s reminiscent of my Sun and Moon play through, but better. I’ve learned from my mistakes and I’m making it better. It’s already gotten some love, but it would be wonderful to see more love sent it’s way.

I know that that intro was a bit long, but honestly I want to do a shorter Weekly Blog this week. I didn’t really have a ton to talk about, because most of my week was dedicated to getting everything ready for the new Pokémon series up and running. However like I said, you wonderful people made August the best month I’ve had in the one and half years of writing on this Blog. We reached over 1,000 total likes as well as exceeded the record we set back in May in both terms of views and likes. We also got a huge wave of new viewers in August, so hello to all those new people reading my stuff. I hope you like it. It really means a lot of me that you take time out of your day to read the words I’ve written. It’s not all about the views or likes or anything like that, but I’d be lying if I said that it’s not nice to see the stuff I write read by people all over the United States as well as all over the world.

One thing that always bugs me though is that I see other bloggers here on the website doing really well for themselves also. I’m not jealous or anything like that, but I do wish I had similar numbers that they have. People with hundreds or even thousands of views on their stuff. It would be amazing if I had those kinds of numbers. I’d love to make this my full-time job, but in order to make that work, I’d have to get my numbers way up. But then there are also newer websites and blogs with only a few followers and a few views. People who probably look at my numbers and are a little bit jealous of me.

I guess what I want to say is that everyone is in different places when it comes to the content they are making and how long they have been publishing stuff on WordPress. While I have been doing this for a little over 18 months, others have been doing this for years and years. Obviously they would have more viewers since they have been building an audience over a longer period of time. They have been working longer and has put in more time than I have so it’s only fair that they have more views than me. Again, everyone is in different places and it’s important that I don’t compare myself to others, but instead where I have been. In August 2017 I didn’t even break 100 views for the month and had one fifth the viewers that I had compared to August 2018. That’s massive growth. I’m not going viral and setting the world on fire with the stuff I write, but I’m still proud of my growth. I’ve seen how far I’ve come and I can’t wait to see where I’ll go. This year I passed 100 followers as well as 200 followers. I’m currently planning out when I’ll hit 300 published pieces and it’s very likely I’ll three 300 followers this year. So many milestones within a year’s span. I’m sure I’ll talk more about them when they happen, but those are just things that are likely to happen in the near future. It’s all thanks to you wonderful people. I hope that it doesn’t come off as shallow when I say that over and over because it really means a ton to me. I can’t overstate it. All the views, likes, and comments are truly a blessing and make me overjoyed.

The last thing I’ll say is that if you are a writer or a content creator, don’t forget where you came from and the people who helped you get there. No matter if you get a handful of views or thousands, that still means people are reading your stuff and loving it. I believe that even one person reading your stuff makes it all worth it, even if that one person is your mom (Shout out to my Mother!). If you are just starting out and you are not getting the amount of views you want, don’t panic. Write for yourself, not others. Make the stuff you want to make and hopefully people will come and read it. It’s not guaranteed, but maybe you’ll create a small, well-knit community that loves your stuff. That’s a success in my eyes. Also use this time to better your skills and find out how to navigate WordPress. This is the time to make mistakes before there’s a crowd of thousands to call you out on it. Experiment. Get outside our comfort zone and make some amazing stuff. People will come. I mean if I can get people to read my stuff, you should have no problem getting readers to read your stuff.

That’s it for this Week. I told you it would be short. Just wanted to give some love to all my readers out there and thank you for coming back day after day, week after week to read my stuff. Also I wanted to pass on some love to others Writers who might be frustrated by the numbers. Write for yourself and everything else will fall into place. If you liked this Weekly Blog feel free to give it a like. You can also leave a comment down below. Talk about what you are working on or upcoming projects you are excited about. You can also leave any compliments, critiques, or criticisms down in the comments. I’ll read those as well. If you’re new here or you just haven’t had the time to read the other stuff on the website, that’s alright. You can start with the stuff I mentioned before or just spend some time checking out the other stuff on my website. There are Weekly Blogs, Poetry, Writing Prompt pieces, and Pokémon Fanficiton. Plenty of awesome stuff I’ll know you’ll love. Check it out. Also you can  follow me here on WordPress and/or on Facebook or Twitter. Any of those places will let you know when I post new stuff.

Thank you again for reading my stuff and supporting me. I hope you have a fantastic week!
