Just Standing There

Are you just standing there?
Waiting for a time to feel alive?
Do you feel the echoes of failures past?
Like thick chains of iron holding you back.

Do you not feel the rage?
The closing of doors.
The people shutting you out when you deserve a chance.
No. Not today.

Today you will not be silent.
You will not be still.
Today you hear the brass horns of triumph.
Their notes carried on the winds.

You break the chains.
You move forward.
For today you are a champion waving your own banner.
Victory and glory will slip through your hands no longer.
