Laying on a piece of outstretched comfort.
Snuggled together under the cloudless, summer sky.
Feeling your chest rise and fall with every breath.
My ear pressed against you so I can hear your thumping heart.
The sight of dancing stars fluttering between our fingertips.
The smell of crackling embers on the wind.
Summer’s heat has left its mark.
The ground still radiates its warmth.
A moment where the setting sun seems like it will stay away forever.
Let us lay here,
Sleep,
And Dream.
A sabbatical from responsibilities.
And anything that may come with a new summer’s daybreak.
