A Knight on horseback rides back into town.
The townsfolk look, but there is no joy on the warrior’s face.
No dragon slayed or princess saved.
A young man looking up and wanting to reach the heavens.
Rockets launch but he is still standing on the ground.
Stars are too far away.
Driving back from California.
Hollywood wasn’t looking for a star.
Palm trees wave as LA says “Adios.”
Writer lying in their childhood bed looking up at the ceiling.
Unable to write their way into employment.
Feelings of failure fill their head.
