What World Will We Return To?

Can we watch a pandemic shake us
And just return to the world as it was before?
Or is this the final straw,
That breaks our world down and lets it change.

A world softened by an ongoing crisis
Soft clay able to be molded by the people who live through it.
Instead of looking back and saying “That’s good enough.”
People will look forward and say “This should never happen again.”

When this is all over
And the dust has settled.
What will the world look like?
Will we return to normal or create something new?

It’s up to all of us to decide what the world is going to look like.
