A Haunted Night

Pumpkins carved and sitting on the doorsteps.
Their faces twisted and laughing with light spilling out.

Ghosts wander the streets as their howls mix with the chilled air.
Wisps of fog obscure the sight of the haunted souls floating around.

The sacred veil that separates the dead from the living is thin.
Spirits take this opportunity to make their presence known.

Graveyards are full of chatter and rustling bones.
The living and dead tread across the hallowed ground.

It is the scariest night.
The night of the haunted and the damned.

Good thing we wear the masks and offer up our sweets.
It is just enough to keep the monsters away.
