The Old Stone Bridge

A small stream still flows under the old stone bridge.
Just enough that it gets muddy from time to time.
In the spring the frogs lay their eggs there.
You can hear the spring peepers from miles away.
In the autumn fallen leaves and barren twigs threaten to dam the flow.
But the stream moves the leaves along like colorful boats drifting down the River Styx.
Rusty farm trucks cross the bridge and the stone shudders but holds.
No matter how much things change.
The old stone bridge remains.
