Hello Internet!
I hope you all are doing well and staying healthy! If you are reading this the day it’s published, then today is Thanksgiving here in the United States. It’s a day full of friends, family, food, football, and thankFULLness. It’s truly a day full of many words that start with F. I know that I’m going to be spending my day with my family eating lots and lots of turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. All things that I’m very thankful for. Which is what today is all about. I wanted to write this special weekly blog to reflect on all the things I’m thankful for. This year this blog is going to be a little bit short and sweet since I’m writing it at the last minute, but I’m sure you all don’t mind. You’ve probably read my blogs before and know I can preamble, so let me just jump into it.
This year has been a strange one in terms of writing and publishing here on the website. So that’s why I’m thankful for all of you! I’m thankful for my readers new and old who have continued to support me by reading the stuff I publish, liking their favorite posts, and following me here on WordPress. I know I’m not consistent with publishing, but I know every time I publish a new piece, there will be a whole group of readers who are there to show it some love. I really appreciate it. I say this all the time, but that support really does make my day/month/year so thank you so much for showing me that support!
The second thing I’m thankful for this year is my friends and family. Basically anyone who shows me support outside of this website. I feel like this year, like many other years, was really rocky at times. However, the bits of stability really helped me when things were rough. Having a group of friends that I can reach out to whenever I need really means a lot to me. I’m especially thankful for my roommate who has to put up with me basically all the time. You sometimes hear roommate horror stories and it makes you worried about what it’s like to live with someone. Thankfully for me, my roommate is amazing and really easy to live with. We’re really supportive of one another and communicate super well so it makes things easy. So thank you to everyone that I consider a friend because I really appreciate you.
Last thing I want to highlight here is myself. I know this might be strange. What does it mean to be thankful for myself? Well I’m not trying to be self-centered here, I promise. But I want to shout out the effort I put into improving myself this year. Because, frankly, I’m not very good at doing that. This year I had a long, hard look at my life and tried to identify some areas where I had been slacking off or felt like I needed to improve. I set some goals for myself and tried to follow them to the very end. Some of you might know but this Blog was actually created based on a New Year’s resolution to write more and I’ve continued to write off and on for almost six years now. That takes a lot of effort and even when I miss the dates of when I want to publish new pieces, I need to remind myself that I’ve still done a lot this year. In general, I’ve tried to eat healthier, cook more, exercise and go to the gym more, read more books, learn more, be more empathetic, become more motivated, improve my relationships with friends and family, learn more Spanish, and enjoy my hobbies. That’s a lot to do on top of working, writing, sleeping, and more. Oftentimes I don’t meet all those goals every day, but that’s ok. I try to put in the effort and then remind myself that even completing half of those tasks in a day is a lot and it’s way better than not completing any of them. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. It’s ok to just take on a few things for the day. So yeah, I just want to say that I’m thankful for the effort I’m putting in to better myself and my life. Because again, it’s important to acknowledge that.
Those are just a few of the things that I’m thankful for this year. I could keep going, but I don’t want to keep you all here for that long. There’s pumpkin pie to be eaten or football to be watched or naps to be had! Anyway, no matter if you are celebrating Thanksgiving or not, I hope that you will take a bit of your time today to think about what you are thankful for. If things are going well, remember to count your blessings and remember where you came from. If things are not going so well for you right now, that’s alright. I hope that things turn around for you soon. We’ve all been in bad spots, but it helps me to know that they are just temporary. You’ll get through it and I’ll be proud of how far you’ve come.
Thank you again for all your love and support! I really appreciate it! Enjoy your holiday and I hope you have a wonderful week!
