Safe Harbor

Can we leave the horrors of this life?
Charter a vessel and take off to the ocean?
We could live just the two of us with just a boat and a dream.
Escape the coast and find our freedom on the high seas.

We do not need to fear the crashing waves.
Endless blue and gulls above.
I know that in distant land,
We will find safe harbor.

Sail or paddle or motor.
Whatever it takes to get us away from here.
We’ll have to navigate by the stars.
As our boat travels across the salty waters.

If Neptune stirs or Davy Jones beckons me to his locker.
I’ll just stare into the ocean’s depths and resist that siren song.
The old sailor’s shanties claim that captains marry the ocean but
My heart will always belong to you, my dear.

Now come quick, take my hand for our voyage starts now.
Ocean blue.
Sky burnt orange and hazy purple.
Safe harbor on the horizon.
