Hear the loud cry of the whip-poor-will.
A trumpet in the lofty branches of the sycamore tree.
It cries out with questions.
Uncertainty and fear.
Who will gallop across the valley of annihilation,
With a song of seraphic salvation?
Who will bring heaven’s glory,
To the weary and the dying?
Is there faith among the branches,
That the mighty tree will stand?
When the fire spreads like serpents,
Burning the foundation at the roots.
Will the morning sun still rise?
And bring with it the joy of songbirds once again?
