Hello everyone!
I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your holiday season. We are nearing the end of November so that means that here in the United States, we are celebrating Thanksgiving. It’s a day to not only eat way too much turkey and stuff while watching football, but it’s also a day to get together with friends and family to celebrate everything you are thankful for. So on this day I thought I’d keep up the annual tradition of writing a small blog sharing with all of you what I’m thankful for.
First I want to give a shout out to all of you that are reading this right now. It’s been another year where I have been neglecting this website and not writing as much as I want. But yet people like you still keep reading my stuff every time I post it. So thank you so much for doing that. Thank you for supporting me when sometimes months will go by without a blog or poem or anything else. I really am thankful for all the people who read my stuff and support my writing. I wouldn’t still be publishing stuff here on the website if I didn’t have people like you supporting me. I started this blog back in 2017 (I can’t believe it myself) and it’s almost 2025 so that’s 8 full years of me writing and publishing stuff. In that time I’ve amassed a small community of people who are creative and positive and just so lovely. So thank you again for being part of that. I really do appreciate all of you.
Second, I want to say that I’m thankful for my friends and family. This is in no way saying that they are second to all of you, because 1) there’s some overlap there and 2) they are so important to me, I couldn’t put them above anything else. In moments where life gets rough I really lean on my friends. I just love them so much and I am so grateful that I have a strong net of support in my life. Even friends that I don’t get to see that often. Every time we are able to get together, it’s like no time has passed. It makes me so happy. I just miss them when I can’t see them. But I guess that’s adult life. I just know that sometimes adult friendships can be hard to maintain, so that makes me even more thankful for the friendships I have. My family as well. I really appreciate them and I’m happy that I’m going to see many of them during this Thanksgiving holiday.
Third but not last, I want to just say that I’m thankful for where my life is now. It’s kind of hard to get into but things aren’t the best right now. LIke some aspects are good but others could definitely use some work. But altogether I’m happy and I’m working on the parts that I’m not happy about. That’s a good place to be. Soon I’ll be turning thirty and I know I might be jinxing it, but I’m actually excited for my thirties. I’m excited to see what the next decade of my life will be. I enjoyed my twenties well enough with a few complaints. But I’m just hoping that my thirties are a little bit more stable in some ways and a lot more exciting in others. Who knows. Obviously there are some dark storm clouds up ahead which will put a damper on the next four years or so but I have a strong network to lean on as we all work through that. I’m not ready to give up the fight just yet. Things are going to get bad. There’s no doubt about that. But those clouds will break. Not to get too far into all the politics stuff. It is Thanksgiving after all. Some politics are expected. Anyway I want to wrap up here while I’m still trying to be positive.
Thank you all again for all the support you’ve shown me over these years and I hope you have a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving. Spend some time with friends and family if you can, and prepare yourself to fight for those Black Friday deals while stuffed full of mashed potatoes and gravy!
Have a fantastic Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season!
-Allen
