Sitting on the shoreline.
The sand holds the last bit of warmth.
Watching the sun set.
It splashes down into the water.
Newly formed sandcastles are not long for this world.
They will return to the damp sand to be molded once again.
The starfish and sea urchins ride home on the waves.
As the last of the seagulls say their goodbyes.
Summer is finite, it will not last long.
But you’ll take the treasured memories and hold them close.
You’ll remember the feeling of sand between the toes.
And you’ll be back next year to soak in the sun.
