Weekly Synopsis: February 26 – March 4

Hello internet! Things are not slowing down in the world of US politics and there is a ton of stuff going on. We have literal scavenger hunts for the Affordable Care Act replacement bill or what some are calling “Obamacare Lite,” we had a “surprisingly Presidential” speech from our President in front of Congress, there were some cabinet confirmations as well as the possibility of a cabinet member being impeached. Let’s just get into some of these important events that happened this week in no particular order:

Former President George W. Bush has been on many TV shows this week including Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel as well as many news programs. He made comments that contrast with the current President’s stance on the media saying that the Media is necessary for democracy and for America. He also made comments talking about how he doesn’t like racism and he disagrees with some of the current President’s rhetoric. (Washington Post) (New York Times) (The Hill)

It was discovered that Vice President Mike Pence used a private email server while he was Governor of Indiana. It is likely he used this server for public business. It is likely that this private email server was hacked. Mike Pence was also a huge critic of Hillary Clinton during the investigation into her private email server. (Washington Post) (CNN News) (USA Today)

Well there’s a comprehensive list of things that happened this week. I know it’s not everything but here’s a lot of stuff to go through and read if you missed out on any big stories. I also changed up a format a little bit and included multiple relevant news sources for each newsworthy event. I try to balance the news sources and choose sources from all over the political spectrum. If there’s something major I forgot to include for this week, feel free to comment below and cite your source.

Reminder: Keep all discussion civil and on topic. I do not want to shut down free speech but I will if the speech is hateful and/or not-constructive. Thank you.
