Weekly Synopsis Feb 12 – Feb 18

I may be trying to take a week off to write and get caught up with stuff for next week, but politics never takes a week off (although Congress might …he he political joke). So I decided to publish my weekly review of some of the major things going on in US politics this week in no particular order:

Michael Flynn, The National Security Adviser to the President, resigns after information is leaked that he deliberate misled the President, Vice President, and other major White House officials about conversations he had with the Russian Ambassador to the United States. Many prominent Republicans and Democrats in Congress are calling for a Congressional investigation into Michael Flynn and these conversations.

List of all the 45th President’s Executive Orders (as of Feb 13th, 2017)

The director of the Office of Government Ethics believes that Kallayanne Conway broke federal rules when she endorsed Ivanka Trump’s clothing line.

Businesses close down and Schools shut down due to students skipping class during a day that has been declared A Day Without Immigrants. Many people have stayed  home to show how important immigrants are in the US.

Andrew Puzner withdraws his nomination for Labor Secretary after many top Senate Republicans inform the President that the votes are not there. There were several controversies surrounding Puzner including the fact that his wife had been on the Oprah Winfrey show in 1990 that was dedicated to domestic violence as well as the fact that he had a undocumented Illegal Immigrant working for him as a housekeeper.

Senate confirms Representative Mike Mulvaney (R – S.C. ) for Budget Chief by a vote of 51 to 49

The 45th President had a “bizarre press conference”(my words) which was a “rambling, defensive and at times angry performance by the leader of the free world.” (USA Today’s Words)

That is just a brief summary targeting several different big stories that happened this week. Make sure you stay informed as well as look at many different sources from the far left to the far right. If there’s something major I forgot to include for this week, feel free to comment below and cite your source.

Reminder: Keep all discussion civil and on topic. I do not want to shut down free speech but I will if the speech is hateful and/or not-constructive. Thank you.
